Parking in Dartmouth

Dartmouth is a small, very old town that wasn’t really designed for lots of cars. You can pull in near to all of our Just B properties to check in and unload baggage. After this and especially during summer months, usually the best and often quickest option is to use Dartmouth’s park and ride which is located at the top of town.

Obviously everyone’s parking requirements will vary. Much will depend on when you are arriving and how long you want to park for? From all of our Just B properties everything in Dartmouth is walkable and you may not need your car during your stay. If this is the case, after you have checked in we recommend you use Dartmouth’s Park and Ride service. Its cheap at just £5.00 per day and easy!

If you are only staying for 1 night only, there is limited parking in Dartmouth Town centre which usually becomes more available after 4/5pm. Parking times and restrictions vary so please check signs nearby. The map below shows parking zones. If for example, you arrive at 4pm you could park in a 2 hour space (4pm – 6pm) over night is free and in the morning you will get another 2 hours (9am – 11am) so a 2 hour free parking space will cover you from 4pm – 11am the next day!

  • Green – Free and unrestricted year round
  • Yellow – Free and Unrestricted except no parking during Market days Tuesday and Friday 7am – 5pm (year round)
  • Blue – Free but with 2 hour time restriction
  • Black – Free but with 1 hour time restriction
  • Red– Main pay and display car park

The yellow sqaure on the map abopve is Dartmouth Market Square. This is free and unresticted parking except on Market days. Market days are Tuesday and Friday 7am – 4:30pm. If you are arriving on a friday at around 4:30 / 5pm theres a good chance you could get a free parking space on Friday afternoon which you can park in until Tueday at 6:30AM

There is some FREE and unrestricted parking on Castle road Lower road (which leads to Dartmouth Castle) and Higher Road to Sugary Cove beach. These spaces are road side, so allow plenty of room for vehicles to pass. Its about a 12 minute walk back into Dartmouth town centre or you can catch the castle ferry boat if you want to make a round trip!

We really don’t recommend using the pay and display town car park, you will spend your entire stay “feeding the meter” and its hungry.. and expensive. However if this option suits you, you can pay via the Ringo app.

USING THE RINGGO APP TO PAY BY CARD - MAYORS AVENUE CAR PARK

You can download the RingGo app to your phone through your app store (Available for IOS and Andriod ) for free. You will need to create an account and enter your REG number and Card details.

Dartmouth town center Car Park (Mayors Avenue) is Location 3471

You can set up an account in advance by going to www.myringgo.co.uk

Handy to know If you purchase a hour parking, you can extend your stay without having to move your car via the ringo app – Up to 4 hous Max. You can park for 4 hours from 2pm (2pm – 6pm) At 6pm, using the Ringo app, extend to include overnight parking and in the morning at 8am, again with the ringo app pay for 4 hours (8am – 12 noon) – without haviong to move your car!
